Opinion of our clients

For most clients, the care of (complex) wounds is a challenge. Their daily life is affected by factors such as limited mobility, personal hygiene, odour or pain. That is why we find it important to know how our clients appreciate the services of ARA Wond en Zorg. This helps us to improve the quality of our work and to work more efficiently.

The role of the wound specialists of ARA Wond en Zorg within the institution has been positively assessed from the client's perspective. Our clients believe that the direct supervision, leadership and coordination role and expertise of our wound specialists is essential for performing wound care at home. The communication with the clients, the informal / family care givers and, if necessary, with the doctor (s) is also given a positive assessment.


The reason is mainly because the condition of the wound as well as any phenotypic changes in wound and risks are regularly monitored. Furthermore, clients receive information about the situation of their wounds and their questions are answered with expertise and patience. Our wound specialists are an accessible point of contact in the wound healing process for clients and their care givers.

Research

What is the role of the wound specialist within homecare settings? In order to answer this question, we investigated the role of the wound specialist in our organization based on the CanMEDS (Canadian Medical Education Directions for Specialists) competency Framework for wound care providers.


Our clients have assessed our wound specialists on these competencies:


  • Communicator
  • Supervisor
  • Personal recommendations
  • Practionior


1. Communicator

During this study we analysed the way of communication with clients about wound treatment.This analysis showed that 90% percent of clients feel that they are well informed about the progress of wound healing.


2. Supervisor

100% percent of clients consider the role of the wound specialist as a supervisor in executing wound plans extremely important.

3. Personal recommendations

80% of clients indicate that personal recommendations from the ARA Wond en Zorg wound specialist are extremely important in their wound care.


4. Practitioner

The role of the wound specialist of ARA Wond & Zorg as a practitioner is extremely important for 90% of the clients and 10% of the clients find it very important.
